ARGCS Indianapolis: Top 4 Dalton Bousman (Burning Abyss) vs. Jeff Jones (Dalton Bousman)

Here's your Top 4 Feature Mach with a rematch between Dalton Bousman and Jeff Jones.  Both of these duelists are running different variants of Burning Abyss.  Can Jeff Jones grab a victory to put him one more step closer to a third title?  Or will Dalton prove to be the spoiler of the day?


Game 1

 

Jeff won the die roll and elects to go first.  He starts with a special of Cir then a normal of Scarm to Xyz summon Dante.  He detaches Scarm naming one, milling Graff.  Graff grabs Scarm from his deck.  He sets two backrow, and during the End Phase, adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand.

Dalton Normal Summons Mathematician and sends Scarm to the grave.  He sets three to his backrow andduring the End Phase adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand.

Jeff starts by detaching Cir from Dante, naming two and milling Bottomless Trap Hole and Cir.  He uses Cir to bring back Graff from his grave.  He Xyz Summons Ghostrick Alucard then uses its effect to destroy Dalton's set Karma Cut, detaching Scarm.  Dalton chains the Karma Cut, discarding Scarm to banish Dante.  He then summons Tour Guide from the Underworld to bring out Graff.  During Battle Phase Ghostrick Alucard runs over Mathematician while Tour Guide from the Underworld swings but Dalton's Mystical Space Typhoon destroys Jeff's set Vanity's Emptiness.  In response to the Graff swing, Dalton uses Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding Cir to bring back Scarm and spin Jeff's Graff to the top of his deck.  Main Phase 2 he overlays Downerd Magician over Alucard, sets one, then passes the turn.  During the End Phase Dalton adds Graff to his hand with Scarm while Jeff adds Tour Guide from the Underworld.

6700 (Dalton) - 8000 (Jeff)

Daltons starts off with a Special Summon of Graff.  He then Xyz Summons Temtempo the Percussion Djinn.  He then Normal Summons Tour Guide from the Underworld to bring out Cir.  He then Xyz Summons for Dante, detaching Tour Guide from the Underworld naming three while milling Vanity's Emptiness, Allure of Darkness, and Compulsory Evacuation Device.  During Battle Phase Dalton uses Temtempo, detaching Scarm to run over Downerd Magician with Dante.  Jeff's Graff to bring out Cir from his deck which dies then brings back Scarm to die immediately.  Temtempo runs over Tour Guide from the Underworld.  Main Phase 2 Dalton uses Mystical Space Typhoon on Jeff's set Trap Stun.  During the End Phase Dalton adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand with Scarm while Jeff adds Graff.  Still in the End Phase Jeff uses The Traveler and the Burning Abyss to bring back Scarm, Cir, and Graff.

6700 (Dalton) - 6600 (Jeff)

Jeff starts off by Xyz summoning Dante in attack.  He then Special Summons Graff from his hand in defense.  Next, he overlays for Number 20: Giga-Brilliant.  He goes on to tribute Dante for Raiza the Storm Monarch to spin Dante.  Cir brings back Dante and Dante adds The Traveler and the Burning Abyss back to his hand.  He then uses Giga-Brilliants effect then rams Raiza the Storm Monarch into Dalton's 2700 Temtempo.  Daltons Graff brings out Scarm from his deck.  Main Phase 2 Jeff overlays Downerd over Dante then sets a backrow.  During the End Phase Jeff adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand with Scarm while Dalton adds Cir.

5400 (Dalton) - 6600 (Jeff)

Dalton uses double Upstart Goblin to dig two deeper.  He then Specials Cir and Graff and Xyz Summons for Ghostrick Alucard.  He uses Alucard's effect to destroy Jeff's set The Traveler and the Burning Abyss.  Dalton then Normal Summons Tour Guide from the Underworld to bring out Graff from his deck.  He then overlays for Dante then detaches Tour Guide from the Underworld, naming three and milling Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Supply Squad, and Vanity's Emptiness.  Dante runs over Downerd.  Main Phase 2 he overlays for two Downerd Magician then passes the turn.

5400 (Dalton)  - 8400 (Jeff)

Jeff Normal Summons Tour Guide from the Underworld to bring out Scarm then he overlays for Dante in defense.  He moves through his phase then overlays for Downerd Magician, sets two backrow and passes the turn.

Dalton attacks Giga-Brilliant with Downerd Magician, detaching Dante to add back Scarm.  Main Phase 2 he sets a monster then ends his turn.

5000 (Dalton) - 8000 (Jeff) 

Jeff Normal Summons Tour Guide from the Underworld and brings out Graff then Xyz Summons Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction.  Jeff's Downerd Magician runs over Downerd while Acid Golem runs over the other, but not before Jeff flips up Vanity's Emptiness to stop the Cir effect.  Dalton scoops it up after seeing the Vanity's Emptiness.


Game 2

 

Dalton elects to go first for Game 2.  He starts with a Normal Summon of Tour Guide from the Underworld to bring out Scarm.  He then Xyz Summons Dante.  He detaches Scarm naming three and milling two Upstart Goblin and a Chain Disappearance.  He continues on and uses his Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force to Xyz Summon Constellar Pleiades.  He sets two backrow and during his End Phase adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand with the effect of Scarm.

Jeff starts with his own Tour Guide from the Underworld and brings out Scarm in defense.  In response to the summon, Dalton bounces Scarm with Pleiades, detaching Dante to add Scarm back to his hand.  He sets three backrow and ends his turn.

Dalton Normal Summons another Tour Guide from the Underworld but Jeff responds with Vanity's Emptiness but Dalton uses Constellar Pleiades in response to boune it.  Tour Guide from the Underworld resolves and brings out Cir in attack.  After the summon resolves, Jeff chains Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding Scarm to spin Dalton's Cir.  During Battle Phase, Constellar Pleiades runs over Tour Guide from the Underworld.  During the End Phase Jeff adds Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand with Scarm.

8000 (Dalton) - 5500 (Jeff)

Jeff summons Tour Guide from the Underworld and Dalton responds with Maxx "C" to net himself a card while Jeff brings out Scarm.  Jeff's Tour Guide from the Underworld rams into Dalton's then sets two backrow in Main Phase 2.  During the End Phase Dalton uses Karma Cut, discarding Scarm to banish Jeff's Scarm.  Still in End Phase, Dalton adds a Tour Guide from the Underworld to his hand.

During Dalton's Draw Phase, Jeff flips Mind Crush, calling Tour Guide from the Underworld.  Dalton responds with Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding Tour Guide from the Underworld to spin Jeff's set Compulsory Evacuation Device to get rid of Pleiades.  Mind Crush Whiffs, and Jeff discards Cir which brings out Scarm in defense.  Dalton Normal Summons Mathematician to send Scarm to the grave.  He sets one backrow and during the End phase he adds Graff to his hand with the effect of Scarm.

Jeff draws, sets one backrow and passes the turn.

Daltons sets a backrow and passes.

Jeff Normal Summons Cir then Xyz Summons Dante in attack.  In response, Dalton tries to use CHain Disappearance but Jeff flips up Trap Stun.  He uses Dante to detach Scarm naming three, milling Graff, Breakthrough Skill, and Mind Crush.  Graff brings out Cir from the deck and Jeff swings with the team.  Main Phase 2 he Overlays for Downerd Magician.  During the End Phase he adds Graff to his hand.

5400 (Dalton) - 5500 (Jeff)

Dalton starts with an Mystical Space Typhoon on Jeff's Vanity's Emptiness.  He then Normal Summons Cir then Special Summons Graff.  He Xyz Summons Temtempo the Percussion Djinn and detaches Cir to detach Scarm from Jeff's Downerd.  Dalton's Cir brings back Dante, then he sets a card to his backrow and ends his turn.

Jeff tributes Downerd Magician for Raiza the Storm Monarch to spin Dante while Jeff's Dante adds Scarm to his hand.  Raiza the Storm Monarch runs over Temtempo and Dalton's Graff brings out a Cir.  Jeff ends his turn without another play.

5200 (Dalton) - 5500 (Jeff)

Dalton Normal Summons Graff then Xyz Summons Dante in attack.  He uses Dante's effect by detaching Cir and naming three, milling Graff, Cir, and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast.  Dalton's Cir brings back Scarm while Graff brings out another Scarm.  He then Xyz Summons another Dante and detaches Scarm naming three, milling a Malevolent Catastrophe and two Maxx "C".  Both Dante swing.  Main Phase 2 he sets a backrow and passes the turn.

5200 (Dalton) - 2900  (Jeff)

Jeff Special Summons Scarm then Graff.  He then Xyz Summons Number 49: Fortune Tune in defense.  He sets a monster and a backrow and passes the turn.

Dalton replaces his draw for the turn with Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force.  Dalton goes to his Main Phase 1 and tries to use Rank-Up-Magic Astral Force but Jeff has Vanity's Emptiness.  Dalton uses Dante and detaches Scarm, naming three and milling Solemn Warning, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, and Mathematician.  He then uses the other Dante detaching Graff, naming three and milling Upstart Goblin, Mystical Space Typhoon, and Foolish Burial.  Dalton then Normal Summons Mathematician. During Battle Phase, he runs over Jeff's set Mathematician.  Main Phase 2 he overlays Downerd Magician over a Dante.

Jeff draws and gains 500 LP from Fortune Tune.  Main Phase 1 he tributes Fortune Tune for Raiza the Storm Monarch to spin Dante while Fortune Tune puts back two Cir into his deck while Fortune Tune goes back into his Extra Deck.  Raiza the Storm Monarch tries to attack but Dalton flips up Compulsory Evacuation Device.  Main Phase 2 he Special Summons Cir, sets a card, and ends his turn.

5200 (Dalton) - 3400 (Jeff)

Dalton runs over  Jeff's Cir with Downerd while Jeff's Cir brings back a Dante.  After Battle Phase Dalton detaches Dante from Downerd to add Cir back to his hand.  Main Phase 2 he sets a backrow and ends his turn.

5200 (Dalton) - 2700 (Jeff)

Main Phase 1 Jeff tributes Dante for his Raiza the Storm Monarch to spin Dalton's Mathematician while Dante brings back Scarm to his hand.  Raiza the Storm Monarch swings and Dalton flips up Malevolent Catastrophe to destroy Jeff's set Breakthrough Skill.

4900 (Dalton) - 2700 (Jeff) 

Dalton sets a monster then ends his turn.

Jeff Summons Cir so it can die and bring back Dante.  Dante runs into Da;tons set Cir.  Main Phase 2 he overlays for Downerd.

4900 (Dalton) - 2500 (Jeff)

Dalton draws for turn, sets a backrow, and passes.  During the End Phase Jeff uses Karma Cut on Dalton's Cir, discarding Scarm.  Still in the End Phase he adds Cir to his hand.

Jeff swings with the team but Dalton uses Raigeki Break by discarding Mathematician to destroy Raiza the Storm Monarch. Main Phase 2 he Normal Summons Cir to die and bring back Dante then overlay for Downerd Magician.

2600 (Dalton) - 2500 (Jeff)

Dalton draws for turn, reveals an Mystical Space Typhoon and offers the handshake in concession.
