The End of an Era

Hello Duelists! As I’m sure all of you know, the April 1st Forbidden and Limited list was announced last week, and like always it’s the talk of the community. For the second time in a row, I chose to write about a deck that I had tested for quite a while and post an article about that deck, and then the banlist got released and made that deck completely irrelevant (First Artifact Satellarknight, and now Dragon Rulers). I’m hoping this won’t become a recurring thing. But now onto this week’s article. I’ll be discussing the Forbidden and Limited list and Read more

Hello Duelists! As many of you know, Gold Series 2: Return of the Bling is being released this Friday! After looking over the cards that we are getting in that set, only one really stuck out to me (and probably the rest of the yugioh community): Number 95: Galaxy Eyes Dark Matter Dragon. This is probably one of the most powerful cards I’ve seen released in a while. It reads as follows: 3 Level 9 Monsters You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a “Galaxy-Eyes” Xyz Monster you control as the Xyz Material . (Xyz Materials attached to Read more

Hello Duelists! As many of you guys have noticed, Nekroz have taken up the most spots in the top cut in each of the last three events (more than 50% each time).  This week I’ll be discussing certain cards and tactics to counter the Nekroz deck – if you aren’t using it. Let’s start out with the strategies most players are currently employing to counter Nekroz. The best-known way that players have been trying to defeat the Nekroz deck is through the use of floodgates such as Vanity’s Emptiness, Skill Drain, Mistake, and even Anti-Spell Fragrance! Some Qliphort players have Read more

Hello Duelists! Last week I mentioned a little bit about seasonal cards and after receiving a couple of messages I came to the conclusion that the topic is actually pretty interesting. This week I’m going to be discussing some “seasonal” cards that I think you guys should be on the lookout for in the near future! Let’s start with what I mean when I say seasonal cards. Seasonal cards are those that see a “on and off” pattern in terms of seeing play. Such cards are very powerful because they’re strongest when nobody knows about them. I’ll be discussing some Read more

Hello Duelists! This past week I attended YCS Tacoma and made it all the way to Top 16 in draft before losing out. Before I start I’d like to congratulate Barrett Keys for winning the YCS! I wasn’t planning on going to Tacoma up until about Wednesday night, so I bought my tickets pretty late. I had been playtesting for ARGCS Texas for awhile and as a result I never really learned anything about Nekroz since I didn’t actually think I was going to go to Tacoma. After talking to people who knew Nekroz well, we came to the conclusion Read more

Hello Duelists! Secrets of Eternity introduced 4 possibly relevant Qliphort cards into the Yugioh world: Qliphort Monolith, Qliphort Stealth, Qliphort Cephalopod, and Soul Transition. Last week I discussed Soul Transition and Qliphort Cephalopod and as promised this week I’ll be discussing Qliphort Stealth and Qliphort Monolith. Let’s get right into it! This week I’ll discuss Soul Transition and Qliphort Cephalopod and next week I will discuss Qliphort Stealth and Qliphort Monolith. Let’s get right into it! Qliphort Cephalopod You cannot Special Summon monsters, Read more

Hello Duelists, this week I’d like to discuss something that I noticed at the past ARGCS and other premier events recently: the various travails of playing on camera. As you guys know, most of the Alter Reality Games Circuit Series are streamed (internet connection permitting) and recently, we have also incorporated YouTube feature matches, but what does that do to the players who play in these feature matches? The main point of this article is to be aware of the things that are going on and not to fall victim to these things when you get a feature match! Makes Read more
