The deck has gained its popularity due to its easy access to several types of OTK’s and its ability to swarm the board with mass synchros. The premise of the deck is simple; get Super Ancient Deepsea Coelacanth onto the field use its effect to special summon 2 Oyster Meisters and 2 Fishborg Blasters from your deck. You then synchro a Oyster Meister and a Fishborg to make Armory Arm. Oyster Meister's effect activates and you special summon a level 1 token onto your side of the field. You then synchro Fishborg with the token to make a Formula Synchron. You pitch a card to activate Fishborg's effect and special summon it back to the field. Synchro with Oyster Meister to make another Armory Arm. Pitch another card to special summon Fishborg( this works because the token is a level 1 fish type monster which fulfills the conditions of Fishborg Blaster). Now you synchro the Fishborg Blaster with the Deepsea Coelacanth to make Red Dragon Archfiend. Pitch another card to make another Formula Synchron. You synchro with both Armory Arms and Formula Synchrons to make Goyo Guardian and Brionac. You attack with all to deal 8100 direct.
Phew, that was a mouthful but you get the idea. Now many of you might be thinking well what if I know my opponent has Gorz? The beauty of the deck is that it gets around Gorz! Want to know how? Well read on!
So we have the Super Ancient Deepsea and activate it’s effect. But we know my opponent has Gorz so we can’t use the same synchros as we did earlier to win. Let’s do this instead: First synchro for Armory Arm. Second synchro for Formula Synchron. Discard a card and make another Armory Arm. Discard another card and synchro for Red Dragon Archfiend! Now this is where it gets tricky. You’re field should be Red Dragon Archfiend, 2 Armory Arms and 1 token. We have a clogged field so EQUIP a Armory Arm to the OTHER ARMORY ARM! Discard a card to synchro for Formula Synchron! Synchro the 2 Formula Synchrons and the Red Dragon Archfiend for Red Nova Dragon! Red Nova Dragon should be at LEAST 5500 (2 formula synchrons and 2 fishborg blasters increase the attack by 2000!) Now attack with Red Nova Dragon to do 5500! Now if your opponent special summons Gorz your Armory Arm which is equipped with another Armory Arm can attack over Gorz and burn him for 2700! If your opponent doesn’t summon Gorz then you still win with a direct attack with Armory Arm!
The deck can also OTK using the Colossal Armory Arm loop! If you don’t know what that is I’ll explain below.
If your opponent has a face-up monster on their field you can equip an Armory Arm to their monster increasing its attack points by 1000. Lets say your opponent has a face up Caius the Shadow Monarch and you equip Armory Arm to it, it now has 3400 attack. Now if you attack the Caius with a Colossal Fighter you take 600 points of damage. But Mike why would you suicide your Colossal Fighter? Remember the Armory Arm it has a secondary effect! Armory Arm burns your opponent equal to the monster’s attack points that the equipped monster has destroyed in battle! So while you take 600 points in damage your opponent takes 2800! Colossal Fighter effect activates and you can now special summon a warrior onto the field. So you special summon the same Colossal Fighter! Attacks again take 600 your opponent takes 2800 and repeat till you win! But lets say your opponent only has a face up Swap Frog on the field. Remember that you make 2 Armory Arms in this so you equip both of them to Swap Frog and now it has 3000 attack! Now the loop works and you can then proceed to win.
The deck is very powerful and while it is a sleeper deck at the moment, I believe that it will explode into a more popular deck. In my next article I will discuss ways around being OTK’d. This is Mike signing out.
