What’s up fellow Yugioh players, this is Tyler Whitley from Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and I’m here to talk to you guys about how Chaos Dragons will be affected by Galactic Overlord. First, I’m going to give my decklist, and then talk about the different tech choices that I have made to counter the meta post-Galactic Overlord and the new ignition effect ruling.
My decklist is:
Monsters: 25
3 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon
3 Lightpulsar Dragon
2 Eclipse Wyvern
1 Divine Dragon Apocralyph
1 Darkflare Dragon
1 Axe Dragonute
1 Dark Armed Dragon
1 Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning
2 Card Trooper
3 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter
1 Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress
3 Effect Veiler
1 Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness
2 Tragoedia
Spells: 15
1 Future Fusion
2 Pot of Duality
1 Allure of Darkness
1 Charge of the Light Brigade
1 Book of Moon
1 D.D.R. – Different Dimension Reincarnation
3 MST
1 Dark Hole
1 Heavy Storm
1 Monster Reborn
2 Forbidden Lance
The first thing that you are wondering about after looking at my decklist is why I have opted out of main decking any copies of Cardcar D. I feel that in this certain deck, Cardcar D would not be effective, seeing as it can get Veilered, and now you have a 0 attack monster, sitting there to get trampled by the opponent. In this deck, I main deck zero traps. Therefore, turn one summoning a Cardcar D would not be as effective, seeing as this would allow my opponent to OTK me next turn.
Another choice that I have made is opting out of main decking triple copies of Eclipse Wyvern. Two main decked copies allow me to see them enough to get the job done, and hopefully so they can stay in the deck so I can mill them off with Trooper, or be able to send them to the graveyard with Future.
Axe Dragonute is in here because it is a 2000 attack beatstick. This allows me to get over my opponent’s Thunder Kings, allowing me to explode with a REDMD. After Dragonute goes to defense, it is now used for banish fodder for REDMD, allowing me to special summon any dragon monster from my hand. Dragonute also makes great XYZ fodder with Apocralyph, being able to make Queen Dragon Djinn.
Galactic Overlord gives great support for dragons, especially with the Rank 4 Queen Dragon Djinn. Queen Dragon Djinn allows you to detach one material to special summon any level five or higher dragon from your graveyard. This will give you multiple ways to pull of the REDMD and Pulsar lock. If you have an Eclipse Wyvern as a material, you will be able to set off multiple combos, main one being Darkflare Dragon and Monster Reborn.
As most of you know, there was a ruling change in the TCG. This ruling change was about priority. Basically, what it states is that turn players no longer have the ability to use turn player priority to activate ignition effects off of actions that do not form a chain (thank you, Desmond Martin, for explaining this to me so I could double check myself). This caused drastic changes to the decklist, seeing as I do not have turn player priority on REDMD. This forces me to now main deck two copies of Forbidden Lance. Lance allows me to protect my REDMD from cards like Bottomless Trap Hole, etc.
That’s it for today, I hope you found this article helpful, and I do take constructive criticism. If there is anything that you would like to ask me about the deck, please place them in the comments, and I might answer them in the next article, and until next time, remember to play hard or go home.
