Feature Match Round 1: Shane Scurry(Evilswarm) vs Paul Cooper(Hieratics)

Shane will be starting game 1 today. He opened with Evilswarm Kerykeion, Mirror Force, Evilswarm Mandragora, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Infestation Pandemic and Evilswarm Heliotrope. He set two cards to his back row and a monster in defense position.

Paul drew for turn, set two cards to his back row and passed back to Shane.

Shane drew another Infestation Pandemic. He flip summoned the Heliotrope and normal summoned Mandragora. He proceeded to the battle phase and they struck for a combined 3400. In main phase 2 he overlaid them for Evilswarm Ophion. He detached Heliotrope to activate Ophion's effect and Paul flipped up Breakthrough Skill in response. Shane immediately activated the Pandemic from his hand, and Paul proceeded to activate his other set card, another Breakthrough Skill. Shane pondered activating his set Pandemic, before deciding to let the second Breakthrough Skill resolve.  He set a card to his back row and passed play back to Paul.

Paul drew for turn, activated a Breakthrough Skill from his graveyard, to which Shane didn't respond. Paul oddly passed back to Shane after the successful resolution of the Breakthrough Skill(he was likely trying to bait out a Pandemic despite not having any plays for the turn). He passed back to Shane.

Fiendish Chain came off the top for Shane. He proceeded to main phase 1 and activated Ophion's effect, detaching Mandragora, searching a Pandemic. He normal summoned Evilswarm Kerykeion and activated its effect. He banished the freshly detached Mandragora to add Evilswarm Heliotrope back to his hand. Heliotrope hit the field and was overlaid with Kerykeion for another Ophion. The two Ophions attempted to hit directly and Paul dropped Battle Fader to end the battle phase. Shane set the Fiendish Chain he drew for turn and passed back to Paul.

Staring down an unfavorable position, Paul activated the other Breakthrough Skill in his graveyard, to which Shane responded with Pandemic. Paul scooped up his cards and they were off to game 2.

Game 2

Paul took first in game 2, starting things off with a Hieratic Seal of Convocation. He added a Hieratic Dragon of Eset. He normal summoned the Eset and tributed it off for Hieratic Dragon of Su. The Eset effect triggered and Paul special summoned a Labradorite Dragon from his deck. He then proceeded to special summon Hieratic Dragon of Nebthet by tributing the Su.  Wattail Dragon came from the deck and he overlaid it with Labradorite Dragon to special summon Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. He activated the Atum by detaching Labradorite Dragon and special summoned Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon from the deck. Red Eyes activated its effect and special summoned Eset from the graveyard. Paul activated another Hieratic Seal of Convocation to search out Su. He tributed the Eset for Su and special summoned another Wattail from his deck. He overlaid the Su and Wattail for a Constellar Ptolemy M7. He used the M7's effect by detaching Wattail, to bounce his Red Eyes Darkness Metal back to his hand. He banished the Atum to special summon the Red Eyes once again and used its effect to special summon Eset from his graveyard. He then overlaid Eset and Nebthet for Constellar Pleiades. After a flurry of special summons to start game 2, he passed to Shane.

Shane had an opening hand of Book of Moon, Rescue Rabbit, Forbidden Lance, Evilswarm Heliotrope, Fiendish Chain and Evilswarm Castor. A pretty stellar hand based on the situation. He started things off by activating Book of Moon on the Pleiades. He followed it up with Rescue Rabbit, pulling two Evilswarm Heliotrope from his deck. He went to the battle phase and the Heliotrope struck over the face down Pleiades. Then he swung over M7 with Heliotrope, dropping Forbidden Lance in the damage step. In main phase 2 he overlaid the two Heliotrope for Evilswarm Bahamut. He activated his effect, detaching Heliotrope and discarding Evilswarm Castor. He took control of Paul's Red Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon, set Fiendish Chain and passed back to Paul. A pretty big momentum swing.

Paul drew for turn and summoned Cardcar D. He activated Pot of Duality, revealing Hieratic Dragon of Tefnuit, Hieratic Dragon of Eset and Mystical Space Typhoon. He opted to take the Mystical Space Typhoon. He set a card to his back row and activated Cardcar D, netting him 2 extra cards.

Shane drew a Torrential Tribute for turn. He went to the battle phase and struck directly with Bahamut and Red Eyes. That left Paul with 2800 life points. Shane set the Torrential Tribute he drew and attempted to end turn. During the end phase, Paul flipped up Mystical Space Typhoon, hitting Shane's Fiendish Chain.

Paul drew for turn and fanned his graveyard, pondering his options. He special summoned Tefnuit, to which Shane had no response. He then activated Electric Virus, taking back his Red Eyes Darkness Metal. He activated Red Eyes effect, targeting his in grave Su. Shane flipped up Torrential Tribute, clearing the board. Paul set a card to his back row and passed back to Shane.

Shane ripped an Evilswarm Kerykeion off the top and proceeded to summon it. He activated its effect, banishing his in grave Bahamut to add back Evilswarm Heliotrope. He used his additional normal summon to drop the freshly added Evilswarm Heliotrope. When he went to the battle phase, Paul flipped up Reckless Greed, likely hoping to draw a means to nullify the battle phase. His faith wasn't rewarded and he scooped up his cards, without a way to stop the lethal damage.

Shane Scurry takes the match 2-0 against Paul Cooper!
