Hey duelists! I’m back with my fifth article. If you would like our writers to take a look at your deck, “Like” the Deck Doctor fan page.
On that page, you can post your deck (along with a brief summary) on the wall OR send it to us in a message, and you will automatically be considered for future deck doctor articles. We’ve had a lot of good submissions lately. I applaud everyone on their ideas and am sorry if we did not pick you this time.
YCS Austin
We are less than a week away from our exciting first major event since the ban list! I look forward to meeting and playing against lots of different people at the upcoming YCS. In the past two weeks, I have put in many many hours of practice and theorizing, and am eager to see the results of my hard work. Good luck to the players this weekend, and be safe in your travels.

At a Glance
Those of you who actually watch the Yugioh t.v. show may recall a hilarious episode where the character Shark loses a duel very quickly because he takes control of his opponent’s Acid Golem without reading its effect (not reading the cards is a very common theme in the show). They were playing for souls in that duel, so Shark had to pay a pretty high price for his misplay.
I once included this strategy in my own deck. When Undine Merlantean first came out, I played around with Creature Swap in the main deck in order to have an easy out to Dolkka, as well as occasionally swap a blank Acid Golem to lock the opponent from special summoning and put him on a quick death clock. Adam has constructed an entire deck around the idea. It’s both humorous and creative.
Monsters
3 Gagagigo
3 Kabazauls
3 Hydrogeddon
3 Gishki Beast
2 Gishki Ariel
2 Aqua Spirit
2 Rescue Rabbit
1 Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness
Just because a deck is not tier 1 does not mean you should run whatever you want in it. Tier 2, 3, and even tier 7 decks still need synergy, even if they are “fun” decks. Adam clearly understands this. He has created a monster engine with a lot of synergy. The deck spams Bahamut Shark into Acid Golem quite easily. I will recommend Tour Guide because even with Sangan banned, a one card Zenmaines is still awesome. On top of that, you can steal opposing Rabbits (when you don’t have access to your own) and make Bahamut Shark into Acid Golem. Hilarity soon follows. Space is getting tight, so let’s drop a couple cards. Aqua Spirit is very quick for XYZs, but does not have an inherent +1 the way Beast does. Also we don’t want too much conflict with Duality.
-1 Gorz
-1 Aqua Spirit
+2 Tour Guide
Spells
3 Creature Swap
3 Moray of Greed
2 Forbidden Lance
2 Pot of Duality
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Dark Hole
1 Book of Moon
1 Mystical Space Typhoon
Moray is a great card that digs into things like Lance and Swap, but I wouldn’t max out on it when I am running fewer than 18 water monsters. I really like the inclusion of Lance for Hydrogeddon, Dolkka, and everything in between. Currently, it is a better spell than Book.
-1 Moray
-1 Book
+1 Lance
Traps
2 Bottomless Trap Hole
1 Solemn Warning
1 Solemn Judgment
1 Mirror Force
1 Torrential Tribute
Compulsory Evacuation Device forces Acid Golem’s controller to take 2,000 damage when it is chained to its effect in the Standby phase. Let’s include this shenanigan in our build.
+2 Compulsory Evacuation Device
Extra Deck
1 Chimeratech Fortress Dragon
2 Acid Golem
1 Gagaga Cowboy
2 Abyss Dweller
1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn
1 Photon Papiloperative
1 Number 16: Shock Master
1 Evolzar Dolkka
2 Evolzar Laggia
1 Number 39: Utopia
2 Bahamut Shark
There are just a few additional rank 3s that really matter to us: Zenmaines because it is severely frustrating for your opponent when he has a naked Acid Golem opposing it, Leviair to steal Rabbits from banished zones, and Temtempo because it can strip Acid Golem and also force the opponent to summon Acid Golem himself. Lastly, I think more core engine is better than marginally useful rank 4s.
-1 Utopia
-1 Chimeratech
-1 Shock Master
-1 Papilloperative
-1 Dweller
+1 Acid Golem
+1 Bahamut Shark
+1 Temtempo
+1 Leviair

Most decks won’t have a ton of answers to your Acid Golem-Swap play. Be careful of mechanics that completely disregard Golem’s restrictions, such as tribute monsters (Abyssteus, Hieratics, Giga-Mantis, Monarchs, etc) or Inzektors in general. I love when a deck has personality to it. Good luck running this!

At a Glance
As I’ve stated in previous articles, 3 Upstart is indicative of a turbo deck. While Dark World turbo is the superior deck, Fabled Dark World turbo can still be fun to play, and it is less morally reprehensible to do so. Friends don’t let friends play Dark World.

Alas, if only Fableds were all fiends. Trance would have more application in such a world. There are a couple things that I will focus on: lowering the monster count, and speeding up the turbo aspect. Since we’ve chosen a more fun oriented version of Dark World, we may as well open the doors for BLS in order to add extra saltiness. You’ll load the grave with a LIGHT and DARK almost instantly with this deck.

DWD is a borderline card, sometimes proving useful, sometimes falling flat. I don’t think a good player should depend on Dealings in a Dark World deck, as there are other spells I deem more consistent and versatile. Keep the MSTs sided since this is turbo.
-2 Dark World Dealings
-1 MST
-1 Gateway
+1 One Day of Peace
+1 Allure of Darkness
+1 Foolish Burial
+1 Card Destruction

Mind Crush is at an all time high in efficacy right now, and this goes double for a deck that runs three copies of Dragged Down to synergize along with it. You know, that broken unlimited spell that gives you the knowledge of your opponent’s hand while letting you punish him for conserving power cards? Mind Crush also doubles as a discard outlet.
+2 Mind Crush

1 Ally of Justice Catastor
3 Fabled Ragin
1 Ancient Fairy Dragon
1 Black Rose Dragon
1 Blood Mefist
1 Scrap Dragon
2 Fabled Valkyrus
2 Fabled Leviathan
1 Wind-Up Zenmaines
1 Hieratic Sun Dragon Overlord of Heliopolis
Leviair in a Dark World deck sort of makes me wish the card were banned. The card floats nicely with Allure and Gates. TGU is too good of a card here. Sadly, Valkyrus does not trigger Dark World effects – only Fabled effects. It’s less than spectacular. Mefist underperforms, and on top of that, it’s not a very easy card to get.
Let’s not forget our XYZs.

Other cards you may like here are a single Veiler (you turbo into it so you don’t need any more), Magical Android, Hyper Librarian, and Morphing Jar. As you can see, I’ve gone a more casual route in my deck choices here today, but rest assured I am still practicing hard on my own watch for YCS Austin this weekend. Good luck competitors!
Until next time,
Play Hard or Go Home.
Sincerely,
Johnny
