My Famous Machinas

Hello, for the 3rd time. One last time, if you do not know who I am, I’m Oliver Tomajko. I like to compete at large events and I love building new decks.

This time I am going to be talking about a deck that I have been playing for almost two years and it is not a meta deck. This is also the deck that I usually run and I have been in three feature matches with this deck and I won the all. Because i win with this deck even though it is tier 2.5 and because of my young age, people have made me famous for this deck. The deck is… Machina Gadgets.

A lot of people think that Machina Gadgets are a bad deck but I beg to differ. If I said to someone “do you think that a deck that can go through an almost endless cycle of monsters under the protection of 2-3 backrows, while having the possibility of summoning a very powerful monster very easily, and the possibility to run 10 Elemental Hero Stratos is good”? Their answer would almost definitely be yes, but if I asked them if Machina Gadgets was a good deck they would probably say no. Nowadays, Yu-Gi-Oh players don’t think a deck is good unless it is running Tour Guide from the Underworld and 3 Maxx “C”. I am nervous to show you my Machina Gadgets deck list because one of the reasons why I win with deck is because my build surprise people. But I have decided to show you it build because I love seeing people run this deck.

First, I am going to say that this deck does not have any special combos. This really upsets me because one of my favorite things about this game is doing crazy combo against my opponent. Because there are no real combos that this deck can do I am going to explain why I play every card in this deck.

Gorz the Emissary of Darkness: I really like Gorz the Emissary of Darkness because it gives me a card that I can draw into with Maxx "C" and it really hurts Dino\Rabbit.

Machina Fortress: It’s the main target for Machina Gearframe and it can get me out of a tough situation and it can help me push for game.

Machina Gearframe: Almost a replica of Elemental Hero Stratos and you can equip it to Machina Fortress to stop its destruction.

Machina Force: You can search it with Machina Gearframe and you can pitch Machina Force to special summon Machina Fortress from your graveyard.

Red Gadget: A Machine-Type floater that adds Yellow Gadget from your deck to your hand.

Yellow Gadget: A Machine-Type floater that adds Green Gadget from your deck to your hand.

Green Gadget: A Machine-Type floater that adds Red Gadget from your deck to your hand.

Thunder King Rai-Oh: This is the card that I really want to talk about. A lot of people think that I am very stupid for running Thunder King Rai-Oh in Machina Gadgets. But if I have Thunder King Rai-Oh on my field I WILL NOT summon a Gadget or a Machina Gearframe. Also Thunder King Rai-Oh is one of the most powerful cards in this format, shutting down decks like Dino\Rabbit.

Maxx "C": This is a kind of obvious choice as most decks right now are running 3 to stop Plants and Dino\Rabbit and I run them for the same reason.

Neo-Spacian Grand Mole: This is the best card ever! I use it to get rid of opposing Synchros and XYZs.

Pot of Duality: This makes the deck so much better. It adds consistency by helping me get my Gadgets and traps to my hand

Smashing Ground: It gets rid of my opponent’s monsters so my Gadgets can poke my opponent for ”Weenie Damage”

Book of Moon: A staple to most decks. Flips monsters facedown to stop attacks and stop your opponent from Synchroing.

Creature Swap: This card has won me games by trading my wimpy Gadgets for my opponents power cards like Black Luster Solider-Envoy of the Beginning but it is to inconsistent to play more than 1.

Dark Hole: No explanation is really needed for this card. It is a staple.

Monster Reborn: No explanation is really needed for this card. It is a staple.

Heavy Storm: Even though I am running 11 traps, I still play Heavy Storm to make my Machina Fortress plays more effective.

Pot of Avarice: Plus 1’s are very awesome but this also lets me recycle my Gadgets.

Bottomless Trap Hole: A very good card verses Dino\Rabbit and it can also stop my opponents cards that hurt this deck like Thunder King Rai-Oh. Banishes stuff like Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World Gets rid of your opponent’s monsters so you can push for “Weenie Damage” with your Gadgets.

Dimensional Prison: It can also stop stuff like Thunder King Rai-Oh. Baninses stuff like Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World. Gets rid of your opponent’s monsters so you can push for “Weenie Damage” with your Gadgets.

Solemn Warning: Stops opposing threats like Rescue Rabbit, Tour Guide from the Underworld, Etc. Gets rid of your opponent’s monsters so you can push for “Weenie Damage” with your Gadgets.

Trap Dustshoot: On the first turn this card can win games. People are playing less backrows now so they usually have 4 or more cards in their hand.

Compulsory Evacuation Device: Gets rid of your opponents Synchros and XYZ. Can get rid of Shooting Quasar Dragon and it will not get its effect.

Torrential Tribute: Stops opponent from OTKing you by clears your opponent’s field. Gets rid of your opponent’s monsters so you can push for “Weenie Damage” with your Gadgets.

Solemn Judgment: I don’t think I need to explain Solemn Judgment but I play it because it stops everything.

Starlight Road: Give me the option to set 3-5 backrows without my opponent being able to Heavy Storm. Also can stop power cards like Dark Hole and Mirror Force.

I don’t think that I really need to explain my Side and Extra deck choices but if there is something about my Side or Extra deck then leave a comment and I will reply to as soon as I can. Another reason why I think that this deck is very powerful is because it can make XYZ for free! If I have 2 Gadgets then I can overlay them for a rank 4 XYZ and because those Gadgets replaced themselves, I essentially made an XYZ for free.

I hope that you have enjoyed the 3 articles that I have wrote so far because I am only 11 and it has been hard cramming this in with homework and stuff. If there is anything else that you would like for me to write an article about the write it in the comments and I will try and write it by the end of this contest. One of the reasons why I think this deck is superior to a regular Gadget stun deck, is because both decks do a good job of sitting behind backrows while poking for "Weenie Damage" with Gadgets, Thunder King Rai-Oh, etc. but when regular Gadgets are staring down a Stardust Dragon and a Scrap Dragon without any backrows, the regular Gadget player will have to waste a lot of resources to get rid of the opponent's field and stay alive. The Machina Gadget player can just special summon Machina Fortress and suicide into Stardust Dragon and then use its effect to destroy Scrap Dragon.

This deck has a great match up against Agents and Plants. A pretty good match up against Dino\Rabbit and Karakuri. This deck has a terrible match up against Darkworlds which is why 12 cards in my side deck are for Darkworlds (all of these 12 cards are good against other deck.)

I hope that at other events that I go to I see some more people playing Machina Gadgets.
