Welcome back duelists!! Glad to see you back here and it's glad to be back bringing you guys The Scoop, THE realest Yu-Gi-Oh! News Report that you'll find, and of course it's right here on ARG!
The past few weeks of Yu-Gi-Oh have been absolutely insane! So instead of telling you about it before telling you about it, let's just jump right into it and talk about all of it!
ARG Releases Banned List
Or if you're one of those really nitpicky people, you can correct that to Forbidden and Limited list. Regardless of its title, it's another list that we get to see and play by and it couldn't have come at a better time. In the wake of Konami's lack of a posted list due to reasons that will be addressed later, the players needed something to start playing with, because for all intents and purposes, we know that the format that we've been playing for what seems like years, is no more. Unless of course we get the OCG "No Changes" treatment! If you haven't checked out the list, or you just want a quick reference to it while you're reading, it's here.
What did this list do for the secondary market? It made things start shaking for sure. You saw things like Wind-Ups, a deck that hasn't seen competitive play in over a year, begin to make moves again on popular sites. Those foreign Magicians, Sharks, and Rats started swapping binders in exchange for relevant cards.
But what did this list do for competitive play? Well that depends on the type of person you are. The simple minded individual sees that Qliphorts did not take a major hit, nor did Satellarknights at all, and they assume that these decks are the outright best. On the other hand, the true innovators and masters of the game see new, unexplored and long forgotten avenues that will be garnering much attention in the coming weeks. So for this list, we are definitely divided in terms of opinion, but thankful in terms of gratitude.
Where Art Thou, Konami?
Aren't we missing the Konami list, though? Shouldn't it have been released by now? Is Batman really that fantastic? If you answered yes to at least two of those questions, you probably share the same mind as the rest of the Yu-Gi-Oh community. Everyone is frustrated and up in arms about the lack of a Forbidden and Limited list by Konami.
"But, have they at least said anything about it?"
Why yes young duelist, yes they did. In a blog post, located here, you can see the response to the cries of those, like yourself, who only desire to build and test for upcoming events. It's not much to ask for, seeing as how we expect the list to follow suit of lists in recent memory. Alas, that's not what happened. We got a rushed, hardly acceptable paragraph that can't be called an explanation because the only thing it explained was that Konami doesn't feel like they can come up with a list in 3 months for whatever reason, so suck it up community that keeps us afloat and deal with it until we can finish a list that won't satisfy a majority of the community anyways, because you're literally all ingrates.
Did I paraphrase or was that a direct quote? I lose track.
In any case, we have no choice but to continue to play their format, ARG format, or cube draft until our sleeves fall apart. I'll be the first to admit that one of those options sounds much less appealing than the other two.
The focal point of the recent chaos among the community all boils down to one thing: Anticipation. Our anticipation for a list that is on time according to the schedule that we've had implanted into our DNA almost, in accordance with the lack of a legitimate explanation or an absolute date makes for a very grumpy group of card players. But I'll cut them some slack and say that it will be out and about soon and you can empty your wallets on whatever site you so choose to purchase from and get ready for some stiff competition at the next series of events! We'll all wait together and I look forward to returning with an analysis and questions about the Konami list when it's released! Until then lets focus on deck building under the fantastic ARG list!
Alright! That's it for The Scoop for the week ladies and gents! I thank you all once again for reading and voting to keep us writing weekly articles! As always, if you have news you'd like to see investigated or people you'd like to see interviewed, drop it in the comments and I'll make my absolute best efforts to bring it all right here to you! Until next time, as long as there is a next time, Play Hard or Go Home!!
