Triple Strike is a Triple Threat!

bobby brakeThe Elite Series Triple Strike Deck was just released and me and my friends all went and bought 3 each. Wizards said that they made this deck to help people contend with the top decks in the game right now. I decided to put that to the test and play against my friend Eric using Water/Dark/Light/Nature Control Vs. this Triple Strike Deck to see how it compares and if it is actually good straight out of the box. I am going to be doing a feature match type thing in this article to show you how the deck works and see what plays it can make.

Game 1

I start off going first by putting Meteosaur in mana. Eric puts Terror Pit down in mana. I  put Reef-Eye in mana. Eric draws and puts Chasm Entangler into mana. I put another Meteosaur into mana and put Aqua Seneschal into play. Eric puts Crystal Memory in his mana and plays Mesmorize and I show him my hand of Reef-Eye, Bolshack Dragon, and Grip of Despair, he discards Bolshack Dragon. I put Reef-Eye into mana and play Logos Scan to draw two cards. Then I attack with Aqua Seneschal to draw another card. Eric puts Gigahorn Charger into mana and plays another Mesmorize! Showing my hand of Soul Vortex, Crystal Memory, Grip of Despair, and Meteosaur. He discards the Crystal Memory and ended his turn. I put my 3rd Meteosaur into mana and attack with Aqua Seneschal to draw another card. Eric gets a Crystal Memory as a shield blast. Eric puts a Bone Blades into mana and plays his Grip of Despair to bounce Aqua Seneschal back to my hand and I discard Tornado Flame. I decide not to put mana down because I have 5 mana with Feral Scaradorable in hand with Dream Pirate and Aqua Seneschal. I was planning on holding on to the Pirate and Seneschal and playing them both next turn. So I just play Feral Scaradorable and pass. Eric puts King Coral into mana and plays another Grip of Despair to bounce Feral Scaradorable back to my hand and I discard Soul Vortex. I put Dragons Breath into mana and I decided to play Feral again to keep a big body on board and hopfully banish a creature if he played one. Eric put Crystal Memory into mana and played Root Trap on my Farel Scaradorable.

Aqua SeneschalI then play Aqua Seneschal and Dream pirate to hopefully put pressure on him. He answers with Aqua Strider and Full-Metal Lemon. (The one flaw in the deck is it does not have very many outs to creatures with more than 3000 ATK) I play Hyperspeed Dragon and end my turn. Eric plays his 3rd Grip of Despair on my Hyperspeed Dragon I end up discarding my own Grip of Despair. I play Hyperspeed Dragon and Reef-Eye and end my turn. Eric draws a Root Trap and plays it on my Hyperspeed Dragon. I play Black Feather of Shadow Abyss and end my turn. Eric plays Piercing Judgment and bounces my Black Feather to my hand and taps my Aqua Seneschal. He attacks my Seneschal with his Lemon and I block with Reef-Eye, then he attacks with Aqua Strider and I block with my Dream Pirate. I play Black Feather and Dream Pirate and end my turn. Eric plays Lyra the Blazing Sun and taps my Back Feather and attacks it with his Lemon and banishes it.

I play Bottle of Wishes into a Comet Missile, banishing his Aqua Strider and end my turn. Eric plays Razorkinder Pupput, discarding the only card in my hand, Grip of Despair. I draw and pass. He plays Keeper of Laws and passes, I play Dream Pirate and pass. He puts King Neptus into mana and plays Reap and Sow, putting Dark Return into mana and plays another Reap and Sow! I guess he is searching for something. I drew and passed. He puts Razorkinder Puppet into his mana and plays Squillace Scourge to discard my hand. He then breaks 2 shields with Lyra, one with Razorkinder Puppet, and one with Keeper of Laws. No shield blasts for me! I put Logos Scan into mana, play Razorkinder to banish the Squillace Scourge and end my turn. He plays Piercing Judgment to bounce my blocker and tap my Seneschal and then swings in for game with Razorkinder Puppet and Keeper of Laws.

Bolshack DragonGame 2

I look at my hand its, Dragons Breath, Rampaging Tatsurion, Bolshack Dragon, Hyperspeed Dragon, and Comet Missile. All Fire! Seeing how I need an extra card, I let Eric go first. Eric Puts Andromeda into mana. I draw Terror Pit, that sure will help! I put Dragons Breath into mana. Eric puts King Tritonus into mana. I draw Magnet Mech Glu-urgle and put it into mana. Eric puts Keepr of Dawn into mana. I put Flurogill Manta into mana. Eric puts Reap and Sow into mana and plays Keeper of Laws. I put Rock Bite into mana. Eric puts Stormspark Blast into mana and plays Reap and Sow, putting Crystal Memory into mana and plays Aqua Strider. I put Bone Blades into mana and play Hyperspeed Dragon. Eric plays Piercing Judgment to bounce my Hyperspeed to my hand and ends his turn. I put Tornado Flame down and play Bolshack Dragon. Eric puts Chasm Entangler into mana and plays Terror Pit, leaving him with 1 card in hand. I put Reef-Eye in mana and play Rampaging Tatsurion. Eric draws Root Trap and plays it on my Tatsurion. I play Hyperspeed Dragon and end. Eric puts Andromeda into mana and passes. I put Fluorogill Manta into mana and play Comet Missile on the Strider, he draws for Keeper of Laws, then I play Terror Pit on the Keeper of Laws, and he draws again. I then break a shield with Hyperspeed Dragon. Eric puts Bone Blades into mana and plays his 3rd Andromeda (the other 2 are in his mana). I then Skull Shatter the 3 cards in his hand. He then top decks a Squillace Scourge to discard my Logos Scan. Luckily I drew another Logos Scan and then played Bottle of Wishes into a Dream Pirate. Then I play Reef-Eye and end my turn. Eric draws a grip of Despair and uses it on my Hyperspeed Dragon, forcing me to discard it to the discard pile. I draw another Logos and play Crystal Memory for a Grip of Despair because I have a Razorkinder in my hand, that way I have answers to both his creatures on board. Eric draws Piercing Judgment to bounce his own Andromeda back to his hand and taps my Dream Pirate and attacks it with his Squillace Scourge. I put Razorkinder into mana and play Grip of Despair on his Squillace, which he discards because he wants to keep his Andromeda, I then play Feral Scaradorable and end my turn. Eric plays his Andromeda, getting him to 8 shields.

Black FeatherI play Black Feather, attack with Feral Scaradorable, tapping Reef-Eye because of Andromeda’s effect. Eric milled the top card of his deck with Feral’s effect, it was a Piercing Judgment. So at the end of the turn I banished his Andromeda and drew a card because of Black Feathers effect. Eric put Sprout into mana and played Razorkinder Puppet and discarded my Reef-eye, the only card in my hand. I draw Moorna Gatling Dragon, attack with Feral to break a shield. Eric milled a Crystal Memory with Ferals effect and at the end of the turn I banished his Razorkinder Puppet and drew a card with Black Feathers effect again! Eric played Mesmorize, discarding my Aqua Seneschal from my hand. He then played Lyra to freeze my Moorna. I break a shield with Feral. He mills a Terror Pit with its effect! I break another shield with Black Feather. At the end of his turn I banished his Lyra with Ferals effect! I decided not to draw with Black Feather though because I was running low on cards and did not want to get decked out. Eric puts Skull Shatter into mana and plays Gigahorn Charger and searches for a Grand Gure and plays it on the field. I play Soul Vortex to banish his Gigahorn Charger and get back Dream Pirate and play it. I double break with Moorna, he chooses not to block because if he did I could swing with Feral and most likely banish his Grand Gure. I then break another shield with Black Feather and end my turn. Eric has only 1 shield left to my 4 attackers on field. He puts King Neptus into mana and plays Keeper of Dawn, getting back Piercing Judgment and plays it to bounce Feral back to my hand and tap my Dream Pirate. Then he plays Chasm Entagler and attacks and banishes my Moorna with Grand Gure. I play Feral again and then use Rock Bite to banish his Chasm Entagler. I swing in with Dream Pirate to break his last shield and it is not a blast and I swing with Black Feather directly! I win game 2!

Root TrapGame 3

Eric goes first and puts Root Trap into mana. I put Meteosuar into man. He puts Aqua Strider into mana. I put another Meteosaur into mana because it is basically dead against his deck. Eric puts Squillace Scourge into mana. I put Crystal Memory down and play Aqua Seneschal. He puts Keeper of Dawn into mana and plays Keeper of Laws on the field. I put Rock Bit into mana and play Bone Blades on the Keeper of Laws and he draws with its effect. I then attack with Aqua Seneschal to break a shield and draw a card. Eric puts Crystal Memory into mana and plays Reap and Sow, putting Aqua Strider into mana and ending his turn. I put Tornado Flame into mana and played Black Feather. I attacked with Seneschal breaking a Bone Blades which he used to banish my Seneschal. Eric put Dark Return into mana and played Razorkinder Puppet revealing my hand of 2 Soul Vortex, Terror Pit, and Reef-Eye. He discarded a Soul Vortex. I put Reef-Eye into mana and play Soul Vortex to banish his Razorkinder Puppet and get back  my Aqua Seneschal and then drew a card with Black Feathers effect. I decided to break a shield with Black Feather, leaving him with 2 shields. He put Chasm Entangler into mana and played Grip of Despair on my Black Feather and I decided to just discard the Black Feather. He then played Mesmorize. My hand was Terror Pit, Skull Shatter, Aqua Seneschal, and Morrna Gatling Dragon. He discarded the Skull Shatter. I put Seneschal in mana and played Moorna and ended my turn. Eric played Lyra, freezing my Moorna. I played Feral Scaradorbale and ended my turn. Eric put King Tritonus into mana and played Terror Pit to banish my Feral Scaradorable. I played Fluorogill Manta and attacked his Lyra with my Moorna, banishing it.Eric played Root Trap on my Moorna and ended his turn.

I put Dragons Breath in my mana and passed. Eric played Grip of Despair on my blocker and I just discarded it, he then played Aqau Strider. I played Seneschal and passed. Eric played Full-Metal Lemon and passed. These were the same 2 blcokers that caused me to lose the first game! I played Reed-Eye and passed. Eric played Chasm and passed. I played Magnet Mech Glu-urgle and ended my turn. Eric played Andromeda and got 2 new shields, now he had 4. I played Terror Pit to banish his Andromeda. Then I played another Reef-Eye. He played Bone Blades to banish my Seneschal. I drew Bottle of Wishes and played it, getting a Rampaging Tatsurion from it! Eric draws Piercing Judgment to bounce the Tatsurion back to my hand. I just play it back down and end my turn. Eric draws Keeper of Dawn to use Piercing Judgment to bounce him back to my hand yet again! I put Logos Scan into my mana and play Tatsurion and Seneschal and end my turn. Eric draw ANOTHER Piercing Judgment to bounce Tatsurion to my hand and taps my Seneschal. He attacks it with Keeper of Dawn but I block with my Reef-Eye. I play Rampaging Tatsurion yet again and attempt to attack his Keeper of Dawn with my Magnet Mech, but he blocks with his Lemon. Eric puts Mesmorize in his mana and plays Squillace Scourge, Discarding the 2 Grip of Despairs in my hand I was going to use next turn to get rid of both the blockers and swing in for game. He breaks a shield with Keeper of Dawn. I play Hyperspeed Dragon and Fluorogill Manta and end my turn. Eric Draws Andromeda off the top when I was about to win on the next turn! I Bone Blades the Aqua Strider and end my turn. Eric plays Crystal Memory to search for Lyra to tap my Tatsurion and banishes it by attacking with Andromeda. I play Logos Scna and then Comet Missile to banish Eric’s Chasm Entangler. Eric plays Terror Pit on my Reef-Eye and then Attacks with Andromeda breaking 2 shields, then he attacks with Squillace and I block. Next he attacks with Lyra, breaking my last 2 shields and then he attacks with Keeper of Dawn for game! Eric wins the match!

I may not have won but, I had a lot of fun and was able to prove a point. Though the deck might not be top tier, it can hold its own against some of the top decks. If you are able to buy 3 of them you will be able to build yourself a pretty competitive deck. I know this article was a little different but let me know what you thought and if you want to see more. If you want you can request decks for me and my friend to play and I can do a feature match on them.

See you on the other side of the veil!
