Hi, I am Nicole Tipple. I won dragon duel Toronto with lightsworns. I switched to Wind-up Inzector for the current YCS at Atlanta and got 5th in Dragon Duel because of no top as an x-1. On that note after seeing our current ban list with Lumina back at 2 I decided to start testing Lightsworns for next format. But instead of building it as normal I decided to try Tour Guide from the Underworld. After testing the deck countless times against top tier decks like Wind-up, Inzector, Dino rabbit, and even T.G with its impressive performance at YCS Atlanta.
Here is my decklist…

The first thing most people say is if your running 3 traps why aren’t they Royal Decrees. There are many reasons on maining the traps I am instead of the royal decrees. The first is being that we are not in a heavy trap format. The only two trap heavy decks you have to worry about are dino rabbit and ninjas, in which you can side decree. With Wind-ups and Inzectors being a huge part of our new format and not trap heavy I don’t feel the need to be playing the standard three royal decree.
The other thing that is different about my build is playing Tour Guide From the Underworld and Tour Bus from the underworld. Tour guide allows instant xyz into three which can often be Leviar the Sea Dragon to bring back your banished Plagspreader Zombie, Necro Gardna, or another banished target. Tour Bus allows me to return one of my opponents Inzector Hornet so they can’t continue to use dragonfly’s effect or there Wind-Up Hunter to stop the Hand loop. You can also target one of your boss monsters from the grave or your well needed hand traps in our current format.
With Necro Gardna and Tour Guide you can do continuously Leviars to return your banished Necro Gardna and negate more attacks. This allows you to keep your Lumina or other lightsworn from dying so you can use its effect and mill again the next turn.
Also you may not find the need to play the third Judgment Dragon but with having Judgment at 3 you have more times where your draw would just sit there then be summoned and killed where judgment would give you the chance to blow up your opponents field and mill your Necro Gardna and Plagspreader Zombie to be used at a later time.
The other thing that is different from this build then others is I don’t play Wulf, the lightsworn beast. I don’t play Wulf because it is very inconsistent. Half the times you draw it and don’t mill it and it is a completely dead draw in the hand. It also doesn’t do anything other then sit there and it is also normally killed before you get the chance to attack or xyz with it because most of your milling happens at the end of the turn.
I'm going to go to YCS Long Beach with this deck and will continue to give updated on other combos and thoughts about our new banlist.
Until then Play Hard or Go Home.
