Hello, it’s Oliver again and I had so much fun writing my first article so I decided to make another on.

This time I am going to be talking about Steelswarms. So you might have seen the new archetype, Steelswarms, and you might have thought that it was not that good and at first I thought that too. The Main Deck:

So, one of the thing that you can see right away is that I do not run traps. This is because of two reasons; I can’t use Steelswarm Scout’s effect if there are cards in my backrow and there was not of enough room because of all the monsters that I had to fit in. You also might be thinking why not just run Frog Monarchs because you can special summon on the turn you special summon Treeborn Frog. I know this but the effects of Steelswarm Moth and Steelswarm Girastag are better and with First Step Towards Infestation I can recycle me Steelswarm tribute monsters.

I also made this deck a little chaos oriented because sometimes it is not a good time to use the Steelswarm tribute monster or I straight up don’t have the Steelswarm monsters in my hand. Also, I can use my Chaos Sorcerer’s to draw out Solemn Warnings so next turn I can successfully summon Steelswarm Moth or Steelswarm Girastag.

One thing that might pop out at you right you right away is that I am not running Maxx “C”. During testing with this deck I found Maxx “C” was not really needed because I can just use Steelswarm Moth to return the monsters they summoned back to their hands. Another reason I did not play Maxx “C” is because I tried to make every monster, but the boss monsters, have a purpose if they were sent to the graveyard with Ryco, Lightsworn Hunter. I would have ran Maxx “C” if it was a light or Dark monster, as it would have been fuel for Chaos Sorcerer and BLS.

I also opted to run Tour Guide from the Underworld. This was defiantly a good choice because I can special summon Sangan and when it dies I can get my Steelswarm Scout or Dandylion if I have One for One in my hand. I can also Tour Guide from the Underworld into another Tour Guide from the Underworld or Sangan and XYZ with them for Leviair the Sea Dragon and use its effect to special summon back a monster banished by BLS, Chaos Sorcerer, or a Steelswarm Scout that was D.D. Crow’d by my opponent.

One of the reasons why I am so successful with this deck is because of First Step Towards Infestation. This card is AMAZING! Let’s say I tribute my Steelswarm Scout to summon Steelswarm Girastag and use its effect to target my opponent’s Wind-Up Zenmaines (Wind-Up Zenmaines cannot negate Steelswarm Girastag’s effect because it SENDS not DESTROYS) so my opponent respond to Steelswarm Girastag’s summon with Bottomless Trap Hole and I chain First Step Towards Infestation to it returning Steelswarm Girastag to my hand as a cost. Now the chain resolves, first, Step Towards Infestation letting me draw one card; then, Bottomless Trap Hole resolves but because Steelswarm Girastag is not on the field anymore nothing happens; and last, Steelswarm Girastag’s effect resolves sending Wind-Up Zenmaines to the graveyard. So let’s see what happened to the amount of cards each player had. The opponent lost his Bottomless Trap Hole and Wind-Up Zenmaines. You lost First Step Towards Infestation but you drew a card so it evens out. (I am not counting losing Steelswarm Scout because he was special summoned from the graveyard for free.) In conclusion, your opponent lost two cards and you lost nothing giving you a +2 advantage over your opponent.

The Side Deck:

I designed the side deck to cover up this deck’s weakness. When my opponents side decks against me I usually see stuff like heavy backrow and Dimensional Fissure. Dimensional Fissure really hurts my deck so I side deck out some of the stuff that is not as good when my opponent is playing Dimensional Fissure and put in beaters like Thunder King Rai-Oh and Cyber Dragon. I also side in Mystical Space Typhoon and Dust Tornado to destroy the heavy backrow that my opponent will side into and their Dimensional Fissure. Also, because my opponent sees that I am not running traps, they will that out their spell and trap removal like Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon. Because of this I can now put in trap cards and my opponent will have no way to destroy them.

The Extra Deck:

There is nothing I really have to say about the extra deck. It is very self-explanatory. It is all the good synchros and XYZs that you would find in a plant Synchro deck.

The Future:

In a later Duel Terminal there will be a Steelswarm coming out called Steelswarm Sentinel. I am not going to tell you why it may be good but I will give you a hint: it is a level 3, Fiend-Type monster.

This is my Steelswarm deck and I hope you try it out. It is a lot of fun and a pretty good deck.

I really want to try to make at least one more article by the end of this contest because it really is a lot of fun. I hope you enjoyed the article!
