ARG Circuit Series Championship Top 16: Jeff Jones (Bujin) Vs. Matthew Nistico (HAT)

Allllllllright everyone welcome back to the ARG Circuit Series Championship here in Cleveland, OH. We have an awesome feature match for you guys here in the Top 16. First we have ARG Hall of Famer and multiple premier event winner Jeff Jones from Shelby Township, Michigan playing Bujin. Next his opponent is Matthew Nistico from New Jersey and he is playing HAT. For this round players are re-sleeving their decks and reviewing their opponents deck lists. Jeff rolls a 6 and Matthew rolls a 2, Jeff opts to start us off.

Game 1

Jeff’s opening hand consists of Bunjingi Crane, Bujin Yamato, Bujin Hirume, Fiendish, Quilin. He adds and sends Hare to the Graveyard at the end phase.

Matt summons Traptrix Myrmeleo and it’s effect is shut off by Fiendish Chain. Pot of Duality reveals Artifact Sanctum, another Pot of Duality and Fiendish Chain, he takes the Sanctum and shuffles the rest back into the deck. He sets 4 back row to end.

Jeff draws and Normal Summons Bujingi Turtle for his turn. He enters Battle Phase and attacks with Turtle over the Myrmeleo for 100 dropping Matt to 7900. He goes into Main Phase 2 after that and then attempts to enter End Phase and Yamato is negated by Breakthrough Skill, ending his turn.

Matt summons Traptrix Dionaea for his turn and Special Summons the Myrmeleo from his Graveyard in Defense. Number 50: Blackship of Corn is Xyz Summoned using both monsters, and the effect is activated to send Yamato to grave dealing 1000 to Jeff dropping him to 7000. He ends with that.

Jeff draws Fiendish Chain for his turn. He summons Bujingi Quilin and uses both of his monsters to Xyz summon into Bujintei Susanowo which is negated by Solemn Warning dropping Matt to 5900. Bujin Hirume is Special Summoned by banishing the Susanowo. Quilin’s effect is activated banishing it to destroy the Blackship. Hirume attacks directly for 2000 dropping Matt to 3900. He sets Fiendish and attempts to end but Call of the Haunted is activated Special Summoning Traptrix Myrmeleo back to the field and Fiendish Chain is destroyed. Matt also activates Artifact Sanctum to Special Summon Artifact Moralltach attempting to destroy the Hirume but Hare is banished from the grave to save the Hirume from being destroyed this turn. The End Phase finally comes and Matt is up again.

Matt starts off with Soul Charge for 1, bringing back Traptrix Dionaea and dropping to 2900. He uses the two level 4 monsters to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK. The number 101’s effect is activated to attempt to take Hirume as a material but is denied by Bujingi Turtle being banished from the Graveyard. He sets 1 to end.

Jeff draws Bujincarnation for his turn. He summons the Bujingi Crane and uses both monsters to Xyz summon another Bujintei Susanowo. He uses the effect to send Bujingi Turtle to the Graveyard. He attacks into the Moralltach to drop Matt to 2600, and then into Dimensional Prison that is negated by the Turtle banishing itself from the Graveyard, he attacks over the Number 101 for another 300 putting Matt at 2300. He ends with that.

Matt draws and activates Soul Charge for 2, bringing back both Traptrix monsters, dropping him to 300 and Xyz Summoning into another Number 101 to take the Susanowo.

Jeff draws Pot of Duality for turn. He activates Bujincarnation to Special Summon Bujingi Quilin from the Banished Zone and Bujin Yamato from the Graveyard. He uses them to Xyz Summon his third Bujintei Susanowo. Next he activates Susanowo’s effect detaching Quilin to search a copy of Bujin Yamato from his deck to his hand. Yamato is Normal Summoned and Quilin is activated banishing itself to destroy the 101 which saves itself by detaching the Susanowo. Susanowo attacks over the 101 and Yamato attacks directly for game.

Game 2

Matt starts off with Traptrix Myrmeleo being Normal Summoned to search Bottomless Trap Hole to hand. He sets 4 back row to end.

Jeff’s hand is Bujin Yamato, Bujingi Hare, Bujingi Quilin, Bujin Hirume, Fire Formation-Tenki, and he draws Mind Control for his turn. Bujingi Hare is Normal Summoned and Mind Control is activated to take the Myrmeleo from Matt. The two level 4 monsters are used to Xyz Summon Number 101: Silent Honor ARK and the summon is successful. Next Tenki is activated but is destroyed by Artifact Ignition which lets Matt set Artifact Moralltach. Jeff enters Battle Phase and he attacks directly but the Number 101 is banished by Memory of an Adversary! He passes with that.

Matt draws and passes.

Jeff draws Bujingi Crane for turn. He summons Yamato and Bottomless Trap Hole is activated but Yamato is saved by Hare banishing itself. He ends and Yamato adds and sends Bujingi Turtle to the Graveyard. Also Number 101 is Special Summoned to Matt’s side of the field.

Matt just passes back his turn without doing anything.

Jeff draws Pot of Duality and activates it revealing Bujin Mikazuchi, Book of Moon, and Bujingi Crane, he takes the Mikazuchi. Next Mikazuchi is Normal Summoned and in the End Phase Hare is sent to the Graveyard with Yamato’s effect and Bujincarnation is added to Jeff’s hand with Mikazuchi’s effect.

Matt activates Mind Control for the start of his turn which is negated by Bujingi Turtle banishing itself from the graveyard. Next he Normal Summons Traptrix Dionaea and Special Summons Traptrix Myrmeleo back to the field in Defense. Both Traptrix monsters are used to Xyz Summon Number 50: Blackship of Corn. Matt detaches Myrmeleo and sends Yamato to the Graveyard. He enters Battle and attacks Mikazuchi but in the Damage Step he sends crane to make Mikazuchi 3800 destroying the 101 in battle and dealing 1700 damage dropping Matt to 6300. In the End Phase Jeff activates Mikazuchi’s effect to search and add Bujincarnation to his hand.

Jeff draws Pot of Duality for his turn. He Normal Summons Bujingi Quilin and uses both monsters to Xyz Summon Bujintei Susanowo. Susanowo's effect sends Turtle to the Graveyard. He attacks with Susanowo into Dimensional Prison but Turtle negates it and Blackship is destroyed in battle dealing 300 dropping Matt to 6000.

Matt sets a monster and passes.

Jeff draws Fire Formation-Tenki for turn and adds Yamato with Susanowo’s effect. He activates Tenki to search another Hirume to hand. He Normal Summons Yamato and Special Summons Hirume by banishing a Bujin monster. Both monsters are used to Xyz Summon Abyss Dweller and the effect is activated to negate Matt’s Graveyard effects. His other copy of Hirume is Special Summoned to the field. Jeff enters Battle Phase and Matt concedes!
