ARG Circuit Series Seattle Round 4: Anthony Eckroth (Burning Abyss) vs. Brian Canales (Chaos Shaddoll)

We are nearing the halfway point of Day 1, and coming up we have another match pitting Burning Abyss against Chaos Shaddoll. Anthony is running Burning Abyss while Brian is running Chaos Shaddoll. Brian wins the dice roll and will go first.

Game 1


Brian starts off shuffling his hand vigorously, but ends up passing.

Anthony begins with Tour Guide, special summoning Graff from deck. "You run Gorz? If not you lose." Brian asked Anthony to play it out. He overlays for Dante, detaching Graff and milling Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Allure of Darkness, and Scarm. Graff special summons Cir from deck. Anthony reveals Rubik from hand to special summoned it. He synchro summons for Virgil. Cir special summons Graff from the graveyard. He reveals Scarm in hand to special summon it, and overlays for Number 30: Acid Golem of Destruction.

And just like that, attacks from Dante, Virgil and Acid Golem for a perfect 8000 life points win the game for Anthony!

"Man, I don't know what you're playing" remarked Anthony. Brian smiled and said, "You'll see."

Game 2


Brian starts off with Foolish Burial, sending Eclipse Wyvern, banishing Dark Armed Dragon from deck. "Yay! I was right!" exclaimed Anthony. Brian then banished Eclipse Wyvern for Black Dragon, adding the newly banished Dark Armed Dragon to his hand. He then plays El Shaddoll Fusion, using Beast and Black Dragon to bring out Winda. Brian adds White Dragon from deck and draws one for Beast. Brian then passes.

Anthony activates The Monarchs Stormforth, tributing Winda for Vanity's Fiend. He then swings with the monster directly. He sets two backrow cards and ends his turn

8000 (Anthony) - 5600 (Brian)

Brian simply draws and passes.

Anthony plays Allure of Darkness, banishing Vanity's Fiend. He attacks again for 2400. Anthony sets another backrow and passes.

8000 (Anthony) - 3200 (Brian)

Brian draws trying to figure out how to play out his hand compiled mainly of monsters. He sets a monster and a newly drawn backrow. During the end phase, Anthony plays Mystical Space Typhoon on Brian's facedown Wiretap. Upon resolution, Anthony plays Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, discarding Scarm to target the newly set monster.

"Search Tour Guide, attack for game?" Anthony questioned. Brian offered the handshake and conceded.

Back-to-back blow out games by Anthony and he moves forward with a 4-0 record!
