Hey everyone! I’m back from my trip to Chicago for the NAWCQ and you know what that means! That’s right, its tournament report time! Even though Patrick Hoban won with Dragons, I felt like Prophecy was still a strong deck and I was happy about my decision to play it. To be honest, I didn’t have much testing for nationals, but I did get a load of testing in on the day before the event. At the end of Friday (the day before the main event) I decided on this build. 3 [ccProd]Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer[/ccProd] 3 [ccProd]Spellbook Magician of Prophecy[/ccProd] 2 [ccProd]Jowgen Read more
My 2013 NAWCQ Tournament Report
Next week, thousands of players will travel to Chicago, Illinois to compete in the North American World Championship Qualifier. After that, there won’t be any regional events, or even any planned YCS for perhaps the rest of the format. As a result, the competitive yugioh scene is somewhat in a hiatus. In order to keep you entertained, I have provided two different ideas to occupy your time! Enjoy!
It’s that time of the year again guys! The North American World Championship Qualifier 2013 is just around the corner and the European Championship 2013 has just passed. Congrats to Greece’s Chris Bountaloudis is now the new European Champion thanks to his Spellbook deck. The finals came down to a Spellbook vs. Dragon Ruler matchup and it came to a close rather quickly. After all, Dragon Ruler can’t do much when staring down a field of [ccProd]Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer[/ccProd], [ccProd]Jowgen the Spiritualist[/ccProd], and a set card that is more than likely a live [ccProd]Spellbook of Fate[/ccProd]. Congrats to Michel Read more
A few Italian duelists piloted a Spellbook deck at their WCQ not to long ago. This deck was incorporating the disregarded card, Spellbook Library of the Crescent. It was an ingenuous idea that would help stray away from inconstant builds that were incorporating cards like High Priestess of Prophecy, Toon Table of Contents, and other useless cards. Take a look at the video for more info.
It was a beautiful spring day and the bell for recess had just rung. I ran for the schoolyard and saw my friend Brendon sitting down on the pavement playing a new card game cards with a kid named Mike. Upon further inspection, I found out that it was a card game called Yu-Gi-Oh! I had collected lots and lots of Pokemon cards in my past, so I knew a thing or two about card games, and this “Yugioh” really caught my eye. My friend Brendon was playing with his Kaiba starter deck against Mike who was running what looked Read more
An In Depth Look at Dragon Rulers
Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy was released not too long ago and it is becoming more and more apparent that the new Dragon Rulers are the deck to beat. You know what they say, “If you can’t beat ’em, join ’em!” So lets take an in depth look at the new and interesting Dragon Ruler deck!
Hey guys, I’m back again with yet another Cool Deck Ideas article. Hidden Arsenal 7 and Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy brought us quite a few new cards, and with them I had a lot of interesting deck ideas. The first and most interesting deck I have to showcase today includes the most sought after card in the set, [ccProd]Mecha Phantom Beast Dracossack[/ccProd]. As I am writing this article, the card is selling on a consistent basis at $145. That is an expensive price tag for a card that a lot of decks need 3 copies of, so for the Read more
Hey duelists, I’m back this week with an introduction to the brand new booster set, Hidden Arsenal 7: Knight of Stars. This set has brought forth quite a bit of interesting XYZ monsters as well as a couple of new archetypes for us to try out. I expect to see a lot of new decks at the YCS coming up in New Jersey so I hope that those of you that are going will at least get a hang of the new cards that were released in this set. Daigusto Emeral I have listed this card first because I am Read more
My YCS San Diego Experience
YCS San Diego was just last week, and it brought something new and interesting to the table. Over 1500 duelists traveled from across the world to participate in the first US Battle Pack Sealed event. Each duelist received 50 cards from 10 booster packs and built a 30+ card deck in the 20 minutes they were given. These duelists then played 9 long rounds of swiss until only players with 19 points or more were left. A win is 3 points, a loss is 0 points, and a draw is 1 point. So that means anyone with these records would Read more
