Both players made it to the top 4 of the tournament today, but unfortunately lost out and would now be facing off for the 3rd place. We’ve seen this match-up countless times throughout the format, so let’s get right to it. Steve won the die roll so he’d be starting this match off. He activated Gold Sarcophagus banishing Tempest. Duelists Nathan Ura and Larry Musgrove are both playing Dragon Rulers in Top 16, each bringing their own special tech choices to the game! At the beginning of the match, Ura offered to side out Return from a Different Dimension for games two and three, but Musgrove refused the offer! Musgrove won three games with Return from a Different Dimension yesterday and wants to capitalize on its explosive power again today! Today in round 9 we have Billy Brake, who is fresh off of another top from last weekend, going up against Jordan Winters. Both players are 6-2 heading into round 9, and the winner here will likely make the top cut. Veterans Eaton Guo and Steve Klaus met in Round 9, representing the popular decks Dragunity Rulers and Evilswarm! Steve won the die roll and elected to go first. He played Terraforming adding Dragon Ravine from his deck to his hand and immediately activated it. Vo started the duel by using Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storm’s effect to send itself and Phalanx to the graveyard to search Redox, Dragon Ruler of Boulders to his hand! Both Lucas Nation and Desmond Johnson are playing Dragon Rulers today, but only one is running the Dragunity engine; the other is playing Poki-Draco.
