Last month I wrote about how I felt Unicore had been crippling creativity for close to a year and expressing my excitement to play without it constraining the meta. I had to miss the ARG Circuit Series in Anaheim last month due to school obligations, which made this the first event I played in the post-Unicore era. My anticipations for the format were met, as I was able to take first place at the ARG Circuit Series in Last Vegas two weeks ago! Hello everyone! Gabe Orosan-weine and Tommy Rowe here to discuss why we felt Burning Abyss was the best choice for YCS Toronto. First let’s discuss why we chose to play Burning Abyss over other contenders, and the reasoning behind such a unique build. We started off by evaluating the potential choices for the event. Having less than two weeks to test we knew we would not have much time to choose a deck to test and theorize with. We both decided that we were going to play either Burning Abyss, Nekroz, or Shaddoll. Since we both piloted Nekroz earlier in Read more

Hey everyone! This past weekend was exciting weekend in the dueling world. We had both YCS Toronto and YCS Rimini take place. While Burning Abyss took top honors in Toronto, a Performage Nekroz deck similar to the one I talked about last week won in Italy. While my Toronto experience didn’t go as planned, I played a radically different build of Shaddolls that utilized Gem-Knight cards that I feel is worth talking about today. Due to school starting back, I didn’t have much time to refine the build before playing it at the YCS, but I believe the concept was Read more
