One of the biggest questions amongst duelists after the release of BOSH is whether or not they should be playing hand traps, and if so, which ones and how many. While the answer may not be clear, we can certainly draw some conclusions by evaluating each of them individually. Hand traps, just like any other cards, have their strengths and weaknesses. On top of that, not every deck can support certain ones. In this article, I am going to go over how I feel about each of the viable hand traps, and which decks can capitalize off of them the Read more

Hello everyone, I’m back this week to recap my Third Place finish at ARG Circuit Series Orlando! Leading up to ARG Orlando I had my heart set on playing PePe, or some deck that utilized the powerful pendulum mechanic. As I played more and more matches with PePe I began to feel myself losing control of games just because my opponent had Wavering Eyes and I did not have an out (Damage Juggler/Wavering Eyes). At first I thought that these games where I was losing control could have been the result of making an incorrect play, but then I noticed Read more

Hello everyone! I’m back this week to follow up on my last article where I introduced the idea of Cube draft. This week I’d like to share my entire cube with all of you. I received countless responses asking for help, and one particular individual approached me at the Michigan regional! I’m always happy to help out players especially since we’re headed for what looks to be dark times with BOSH coming out. I’ve conversed with a lot of player’s and none of them seem to be very excited about what BOSH will do to the game, which makes Cube Read more

If you want to be the last man standing at an event, then you need to practice like that same man. While playtesting you should be completely focused on your game and make the best play with the cards you are dealt. There’s no reason to practice something incorrectly because those same incorrect motions will translate into the games that matter. This is a topic that hits very close to home because I used to have some of the worst testing habits and I did not really know how to properly practice for events. This week I’d like to go Read more

Hey everybody, I’m back this week after an exciting weekend at YCS Dallas. I made Top 32 with an interesting Shaddoll deck. This week I want to explain why I chose Shaddoll over Nekroz, Burning Abyss, or some other alternative deck. I will then write a follow-up article explaining some card choices that seem counter-intuitive or outright bizarre, such as the inclusion of Elemental Hero Blazeman or siding five extra deck monsters. I want to explain my reasoning behind my card choices this week.   I want to start out by saying that there is definitely room for improvement in Read more

Greetings my fellow duelists! I’m glad you’re back here with me after one of the busiest months I’ve ever seen in my life! I’d like to extend a congratulations to Jeff Jones for winning ARGCS Indianapolis with Yang Zing! Quite the performance, Jeff! Everything’s Bigger In Texas! We’re on the road to what looks to be an Ebola-free YCS Dallas, and things have shaken up quite a bit in terms of the game. A couple of additions to the card pool, plus some exciting announcements are all headlining in players minds as they prepare to dethrone Billy Brake as the Read more

We have reached the conclusion of the World Championships as well as the ARG Circuit Series Championships, marking the end of one of the most fantastic seasons of Yu-Gi-Oh that we’ve seen in quite some time! I’m excited to see what this next year will bring, but not before wrapping up this years events and remembering all of the incredible moments we’ve seen in the game this year. Before we get started, I’d like to extend the biggest Read more

Announcement Date: July 20, 2015 Effective Date:  Immediately El Shaddoll Construct is restricted to 2 (Two). The complete list of all banned and restricted cards, by format, is here. Next ARG FORMAT Announcement: July 28, 2015   EXPLANATION OF CHANGES With our ignagural list we felt after this past weekend’s ARG Charlotte Circuit Series we weakened Shaddoll’s more then we had wanted to. With our new ARG Format we will evaluate the list a little closer for any imbalance after each Circuit Series event.  We will look at cards that are unlikely to add more strength to the already powerful decks Read more

ARG Edison will go down in the history books as the return of Burning Abyss—and for good reason. Not only did 6 of the 16 players who topped the event use it, but the finals also featured a BA mirror match. I’d like to say congratulations to Matthew Monahan for winning the event, and to Calvin Tahan for joining the second place club. The interesting thing about the finals, or all six of the BA decks that topped, was how unique the decklists were from one another. While Matt opted for a direct counter to the nastiest deck in the Read more
