Zack Milenius, doctor in training? What is up guys I’m here to hopefully become the next Deck Doctor! But before I get into the decks allow me to introduce myself, as mentioned before I am Zack. I live in the Cleveland area, home of ARG, and lately I’ve found myself wanting to contribute anything I know back to the community. So here’s my run at it and I hope you enjoy!
Now onto the interesting decks by ARG’s own Billy Brake and Joe Giorlando. We’ll start off with Billy Brake’s Rock Stun deck profile which luckily for me was a bit of a fad at my locals meaning hopefully I’ll be able to doctor this deck up no problem. For those unfamiliar with Rock Stun the deck’s basic principle involves using 1900 beatsticks with wicked effects. These monsters are of course the Koa’ki Meirus. So onto Billy’s deck:

So right off the bat I decided to cut the Card Troopers. While being a great card it didn’t really fit in with the core of this deck. Since you only run 19 monsters odds are you won’t be hitting too many monsters with trooper. Additionally, cards in this deck are better off in the hand than praying to have both trooper and Call of the Haunted/Block Golem when wanting to set up plays. I added the Giant Rats as substitutes for the Card Troopers. This deck uses 1900 beaters along with Neo-Spacian Grandmole to bounce monsters and make big swings. Giant Rats are more efficient that trooper because of the multiple targets for rat in the deck. The final monster I cut was Maxx “C” mostly because of the recent Meta development. This card has been seeing less play in turn for Effect Veiler, but this deck doesn’t support veiler to well and a substitute in the form of a trap was found that I’ll talk about below.
Next for the spells where I made a few small cuts. I cut a Soul Taker and a Mystical Space Typhoon. I cut the Soul Taker because this deck makes small pushes and to possibly give your opponent 2000 life points felt way too steep. Next I cut the tyhpoon since this deck already has the ability to stop traps and spells with its Koa’ki Meirus. I added in several cards including Heavy Storm, 2 Forbidden Lance, and Book of Moon. Heavy Storm is a staple card and right now in this game nothing is more assuring than resolving a storm. The 2 Forbidden Lance are a passive and aggressive card allowing for big pushes or for protecting your beatsticks. Book of Moon serves a similar purpose to lance, but also can be used to save your monster if you don’t have the ability to reveal a rock-type.
With the traps I cut 2 Torrential Tribute and 2 Bottomless Traphole. In the case of Torrential I cut them because while it can be used to gain advantage your monsters are too valuable to risk losing to a torrential. First I replaced the Bottomless’ with Compulsory Evacuation devices since Bottomless with always be a 1-for-1 card whereas with Compulsory you have an ability to gain advantage through returning a xyz or synchro.
The extra deck was tricky. I cut several portions of this because without troopers they were unlikely to see play. This deck rarely accesses the extra because its monsters are so powerful. I decided to add in a larger variety of Rank 4s and made room for them by cutting synchros unlikely to be made with the lack of tuners. When using these new xyz like Gagaga Cowboy you can use these cards to make big pushes and hopefully take the game!

Starting off with the monsters I made small changes by switching the quantities of of Destiny Hero - Diamond Dude and Destiny Hero - Plasma. While this change may seem small I made it simply because I felt Diamond Dude was more live in this deck. This deck runs a variety of normal spells and more readily access to Blade Armor Ninja and Heroic Champion Excalibur is fun. Next I ditched a Gishki Vision for another Gishki Shadow because while I felt getting to the ritual monster was important so it getting to your ritual spell! Additionally both of these monsters can serve as full tributes for your boss monster so which you use is often a matter of the state of the game. I felt the monster lineup was pretty strong overall though.
Onto the spells my overall enjoyment with this build continued. Salvage wasn’t as live as I had hoped so I started by cutting both of those to make room for more Turbo-ish spells. Next I cut a Mystical Space Typhoon and a Trade-In. I hurt a little to cut the Trade-In, but I still needed room. The typhoon was an easier decision because of the nature of this deck. Its turbo meaning you’ll more likely than not get to your Heavy Storm or other tyhpoons pretty quickly. I looked at this deck and immediately wanted to add Upstart Goblins so I threw in 3 of those. This deck puts big damage on board and a few thousand life points is no matter in this deck. Finally I added a second Gishki Aquamirror to give easier access to the ritual summon of your boss monster Evigishki Soul Ogre.
Moving onto the Extra Deck I noticed a few things right away and that was the lack of Hero fusion monsters to accompany the 3 main decked Miracle Fusion. So to accompany those Miracle Fusions I added 5 Elemental HEROs all of which can be made with Miracle Fusion. With the couple level 7s in this deck I also added in a Scrap Dragon, but something like Ally of Justice - Catastor or another xyz monster might fit well in that spot as well. Mostly up to personal preference.
Well that’s it for my interview I suppose. I hope you guys will have me at ARG Hospital so I can continue writing this awesome column for this site. Additionally I hope that I was able to contribute to your own knowledge about Yu-Gi-Oh as that is really my main goal. And if things don’t work out hopefully we’ll run into each other sometime at a Regional, YCS, or even the next Nationals wherever it is!
Anyway as they say,
