Deck profile and interview with YCS Champion Frazier Smith who took team ARG’s Prophecy deck to a 9-2 finish at YCS New Jersey. Smith explains the main deck choices, the matchups, what to side and how to side, what pros and cons came with running this specific build, and what he faced off against during the tournament.
One of the essential things to note about Prophecy—before the release of Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy—is that it has a great matchup against Fire Fist and decks using the Rescue Rabbit engine in general. Those decks are typically meant to grind, but no deck can grind better than this one. It has arguably one of the best late games ever thanks to the field spell, The Grand Spellbook Tower. As long as you can push the game to continue by not getting OTK’d in the early turns, you should win by shear card advantage. This is why the deck utilized a plethora of traps that halted oncoming aggression and prolonged the duel. With such high interaction, the ability to draw 2 cards per turn, and quick access to almost any card in your deck, it’s no wonder that Prophecy can grind it out with the best of them.
