Path of the Avatar, Book 3: Fire

Less then a month from now, Cosmo Blazer will unleash a fiery storm upon the Yugioh World, with Haze Beast and Fire Fist. Today we will be talking about Fire Fist, the arguably more powerful archetype, and probably the one which will see more play. I would also like to state that I more then likely will NOT be using Fire Fist. So far I've found the deck is not my play style.

After the release of Cosmo Blazer, more then likely Fire Fist will utilize 4 specific monsters; Bear, Gorilla, Dragon, and their rank 4 Xyz Monster Tiger King. These cards do the following

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear
Fire/Beast-Warrior/4/1600/1200
Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist- Gorilla
Fire/Beast-Warrior/4/1600/1000
Once per turn, when this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 Spell/Trap Card on the field; destroy that target.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Dragon
Fire/Beast-Warrior/4/1800/400
Once per turn, if you activate a "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card (except during the Damage Step): You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Trap Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 2 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard to target 1 "Fire Fist" monster in your Graveyard, except "Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Dragon"; Special Summon that target.

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Tiger King
Fire/Beast-Warrior/Xyz/Rank 4/2200/1800
2 Level 4 Beast-Warrior-Type monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the effects of all face-up Effect Monsters currently on the field, except Beast-Warrior-Type, until the end of your opponent's turn. When this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can send 3 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Cards you control to the Graveyard; Special Summon 2 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monsters with the same ATK from your Deck, in face-up Defense Position.

And they will also more then likely use these Spell and Trap cards

Fire Formation Tenki
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.

Fire Formation Tensu
Continuous Spell
During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK.

Fire Formation Tensen
Continuous Trap
When this card is activated: Target 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; it gains 700 ATK until the End Phase. (This ATK gain remains even if this card leaves the field.) All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 300 ATK.

Fire Formation Tenken
Activate only during Main Phase 1. When this card is activated: Target 1 Beast-Warrior-Type monster you control; during this phase, its effects are negated, also it is unaffected by the effects of cards other than this card. (This applies even if this card leaves the field.) All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 300 ATK.

Now that you are familiar with these cards, lets jump into the deck; The Fire Fist are all about utility. They search a lot and destroy a lot, and have easy access to Rank 4 Xyz. They are a VERY VERY easy deck to play, as well as powerful, very similar to Blackwings. The straightforwardness of the deck will draw many people to it. Currently, this is the Fire Fist version I've been liking the most

3 Gene-Warrped Warwolf
3 Vorse Raider
3 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Bear
3 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Gorilla
2 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Dragon
2 Tour Guide from the Underworld
2 Rescue Rabbit
1 Sangan

3 Fire Formation Tenki
3 Mystical Space Typhoon
2 Fire Formation Tensu
2 Forbidden Lance
1 Monster Reborn
1 Heavy Storm
1 Dark Hole

2 Bottomless Trap Hole
2 Solemn Warning
2 Mirror Force
2 Fire Formation Tensen
1 Solemn Judgment

1 Abyss Dweller
2 Brotherhood of the Fire Fist King Tiger
1 Diawolf the Terrorfang
1 Gagaga Cowboy
1 Leviair the Sea Dragon
1 Maestroke the Symphony Djinn
1 Shock Master
1 Leviathan Dragon
1 Giga Brilliant
1 Utopia
1 Black Corn
1 Photon Butterfly
1 Vylon Disgima
1 Wind-up Zenmaines

Rescue Rabbit has always been a powerful card, and in this deck allows you to instantly make King Tiger (or any other Rank 4 Xyz). The part that actually made me tolerate the Normal Monsters in this deck is the fact that you can Summon them from your hand via Tensu making them into an Xyz, rather then having to Set/Summon them and pass or just use them as beaters. It makes them infinitely more playable then in other decks that use Rescue Rabbit, like Dino Rabbit.

Bear is easily the best monster in the deck. He +1's for you every time you inflict damage, and is a toolbox for your Fire Formation Spells (which in turn can toolbox for your monsters). If that wasn't enough, he can destroy ANY monster by sacrificing one of your Fire Formation cards. He is a very annoying card to deal with, similar to that of Inzektor Centipede.

As of right now, Fire Fist literally have no weakness in themselves. There are no side deck cards which shut them down entirely, unlike many other decks weakness to things like Macro Cosmos, Dimensional Fissure, Soul Drain, etc. They are so consistent it's kind of disheartening at times. The only problem is that some decks are FASTER then Fire Fist, this means you can OTK the Fire Fist with a Mermail deck fairly easily if you open up well enough with a Megalo in hand. Fire Fist usually take 2 turns to set up a nice, powerful field, with some protective Spell and Traps. It just comes down to breaking down their defenses and then having some defense of your own. Something along the lines of Solemn Warning/Bottomless Trap Hole/Effect Veiler.

All of this deck is subject to change with the unveiling of TCG Exclusives and OCG Import cards, which will probably happen within the next 2 weeks or so. At that point if there are any drastic changes to the game and/or deck I will be posting another article about those cards, and how it effects the TCG meta.

Also keep tuned for another upcoming article where I will be going over my current favorite deck to play after Cosmo Blazer; Haze Beast!

Until next time fellow duelist, play hard or go home!
