Welcome to Round 3 folks! This round we'll be bringing you an interesting and potentially grindy matchup, with Nate Forte piloting Madolche with a Fire Fist twist against Mike Schwankert championing the popular Hand Artifact Traptrix deck. Forte splashes Fire Formation – Tenki for Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear, as well as three copies of T.G. Warwolf to strengthen his Madolche Hootcake plays. We'll see if this strategy has the power to break through HAT's incredible defenses!
Game 1
The smiling duelists share a handshake and begin. Mike wins the die roll and elects to go first. He sets five cards to his backrow and passes the turn.
Nate activates Madolche Chateau. He then Normal Summons Madolche Anjelly which elicits a quick Breakthrough Skill from Mike. Nate sets two to his backrow before ending his turn.
8000 - 6500
Mike sets one and passes back, not happy with his current position.
Nate starts off by activating Madolche Anjelly's effect to Special Summon Madolche Hootcake. Hootcake's effect goes off Special Summoning Madolche Messengelato, searching Madolche Ticket with its effect. Both sweets get through Mike's defenses as he passes the turn.
8000 – 2400
Mike draws for turn and after seeing enough, heaves a huge sigh as he scoops up his cards. By doing so, he is able to hide his strategy as the only card revealed was his activated Breakthrough Skill. Unable to answer the Madolche onslaught with a proper defense, we go on to Game 2!
Game 2
Mike elects to go first and sets a monster along with five backrow.
Nate leads off with Madolche Ticket, followed by a Normal Summon of Madolche Anjelly. Madolche Anjelly activates, tributing itself to Special Summon Madolche Hootcake from the deck. Mike quickly responds with a Bottomless Trap Hole to banish the tasty owl. Nate sets one to his backrow and passes the turn.
Mike flips up Traptrix Myrmleo and moves straight to the Battle Phase. He sets one more to his backrow and passes back the turn.
6400 – 8000
Nate Normal Summons Madolche Hootcake and successfully activates its effect by banishing Anjelly to Special Summon Madolche Messengelato. In response to the Messengelato summon, Nate Special Summons T.G. Warwolf from his hand. Mike activates Traptrix Trap Hole Nightmare in response to the Special Summon to negate Messengalato's search effect and destroy it. Nate overlays Hootcake and Warwolf into Leviair but is met with a Black Horn of Heaven by Mike. Out of options, Nate passes back the turn.
Mike draws for turn, swings with Myrmleo and sets one to his backrow. During his End Phase Nate Mystical Space Typhoon's a set Artifact Ignition.
4800 -8000
Nate Normal Summons Anjelly to get Hootcake in defense. Hootcake activates to remove Leviair and bring out Messengelato. Messengelato resolves and searches Madolche Chateau which is immediately played. Chateau shuffles in the rest of his Madolches and Ticket activates to let him add an Anjelly to his hand. Nate passes the turn without any further action, still wary of Mike's numerous backrow.
Mike sets one to his backrow and turns Myrmleo to defense before passing back the turn,
Nate peels the top card of his deck and windmill slams a Rank-of-Magic – The Seventh One! This allows him to special summon Number C107: Neo Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon from his Extra Deck with Number 107: Galaxy-Eyes Tachyon Dragon as an Xyz Material.
In response to the Summon, Mike activates Artifact Ignition to hit his own Artifact Moralltach, Special Summoning it to the field to destroy the mighty Tachyon Dragon. Nate continues on to use Hootcake's effect to Special Summon Anjelly. Anjelly activates to summon Madolche Magileiene. Magileiene and Messengelato overlay to Special Summon Madolche Queen Tiaramisu. Tiaramisu returns Anjelly and Messengelato, adding Anjelly to this hand with Chateau while sending two of Mike's backrow back into his deck. Nate follows up with a Madolche Ticket. A normal of Magileiene adds a Madolche Mewfeuille. All of Nate's monsters get through successfully during the Battle Phase. The timely Morraltach saves Mike's life and buys him a turn!
4800 – 3400
Mike draws for turn and lets out a slight laugh. He sets it to his backrow and ends his turn.
Adding insult to injury, Nate begins his turn by activating Madolche Hootcake to Special Summon Messengelato. He then Normal Summons Anjelly, which resolves successullfy to bring out Messengelato. Nate moves to the Battle Phase and Mike extends the hand.
In what many would have expected to be a long, drawn out match, Nate Forte is able to close out the match quickly and punish Mike's poor draws with a flurry of Special Summons. Madolche's continue on with a perfect 3-0 record!
